Hello Members of our Communities, Partners and Vendors:
Greek Day on Broadway was set to take place this year on Sunday, June 28th, 2020. A five block stretch on West Broadway measuring almost one kilometre, from MacDonald to Blenheim is closed off to traffic to make room for a world of delicious Greek food and drink, market vendors, entertainment, and live music offering a laid back, yet lively Greek atmosphere. This award-winning festival presents valued community partners the opportunity to exhibit products, promote travel experiences, or showcase their brand to a massive captive consumer audience. Our guests, our people, and the communities we serve are what make our event so special. As we continue to navigate this new territory, our steadfast commitment to providing a safe, comfortable and memorable experience remains unchanged.
As an organization, we will continue to monitor the evolving situation, taking guidance from the Public Health Agency of Canada, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and local health authorities. On behalf of the Hellenic Canadian Congress of BC’s Board of Directors, I want to assure you that in times of uncertainty, the safety of our vendors, partners and members remains our highest priority. Please know that we are keeping those affected by coronavirus (COVID-19) in our thoughts while we closely watch the evolving situation. In the meantime, I want to inform you of the proactive steps that the Hellenic Canadian Congress of BC is doing to ensure the safety in all our communities – in proactive partnership with local and national health authorities. We were looking forward to celebrating our Greek Day 2020 but given the uncertainty of the current COVID-19 situation and the hardships many of our businesses are facing, we don’t think the timing is right to host Vancouver’s longest running festival.
The Hellenic Canadian Congress of BC would like to extend our best wishes to all the businesses that are a part of the West Broadway Business Improvement Association and encourages anyone who’s ever spent time at our party to consider doing what you can to support a local business. All of us on the Greek Day team would like to thank our 2020 sponsors, vendors, artisans, musicians and anyone who marked their calendar to spend some time on Broadway with us this year.
We appreciate your ongoing support and we will certainly miss you but don’t worry, we’ll be back to celebrate our next year when it’s safe for the community!
We appreciate your continued support and we are looking forward to celebrating with you in June 2021.
